Today is Veteran’s Day, a day to honor the men and women who bravely served our nation.
Last night, the Virginia House of Delegates formally adjourned in the honor of Virginia’s living veterans and the memory of those who have come before. This is a small token of our gratitude.
Virginia holds a special place in history.
Much of the blood that was shed by America’s first heroes was given on fields across our Commonwealth. The war for independence ended and a nation was born here thanks to the unyielding commitment of those patriots.
Since then, millions more Virginians have served their nation. Some have paid the ultimate sacrifice.
Today is a special day to say thank you, but we have an enduring mission to serve our veterans the same way they served us.
The General Assembly is committed to making sure Virginia remains the most veteran-friendly state in the nation. We are working tirelessly to provide Virginia’s veterans with access to educational opportunities, jobs and a chance to raise a family.
Thank you to all the brave heroes who served our country. We are grateful to you.
