Virginia House of Delegates Speaker William J. Howell (R-Stafford) issued the following statement Tuesday on the upgrades announced to the southern terminus of the I-95 Express Lanes in Stafford County:
“This is good news for Stafford County and the thousands of Stafford area residents who commute north every day. The Express Lanes brought much needed congestion relief to the I-95 corridor and these upgrades will bring additional relief to commuters.
“I have heard from many constituents who are very happy with the Express Lanes and the increased travel choices they provide. I have also heard from those who are concerned by the congestion at the southern terminus, whether it was getting on the Express Lanes in the morning or getting off in the evening. I am confident this project will substantially improve access for Stafford area residents.
“I have worked very closely with the Secretary of Transportation and Transurban to encourage the upgrades announced today. On behalf of the citizens of the greater Stafford area, I want to thank Secretary Layne and our private-sector partners for their continued commitment to improving the operation of the Express Lanes.”
