Virginia House of Delegates Speaker William J. Howell and Senate Majority Leader Tommy K. Norment held a conference call with reporters Wednesday to discuss Virginia’s new Republican majority in the General Assembly. Speaker Howell and Senator Norment said they were united in their commitment to govern and lead the Commonwealth.
“Together with the Senate, the House is prepared to govern and to lead,” said Speaker Howell. “We are a united Republican majority and we’re going to work together to solve problems and improve the lives of all people in the Commonwealth.”
Speaker Howell highlighted the strong track record of results produced by the Virginia House of Delegates over the last several years on issues like economic development, K-12 and higher education, transportation, and government reform.
“Over the last couple of years, I think we’ve shown that the Republican party is the party of ideas and solutions,” said Speaker Howell.
