Five of the six current Republicans on the Stafford County Board of Supervisors on Thursday endorsed Delegate Bill Howell (R-Stafford) for re-election to the Virginia House of Delegates. Chairman Gary Snellings and Supervisors Bob Thomas, Cord Sterling, Jack Cavalier and Paul Milde jointly endorsed Howell. All five served with Susan Stimpson on the Board of Supervisors. The Supervisors join a growing and broad coalition of citizens who have endorsed Howell’s campaign through WeKnowBill.com.

“I am honored to have the support of these Stafford County Supervisors,” said Howell. “As Delegate, I have sought to work closely with local leaders to help keep taxes low, eliminate burdensome and unfunded mandates and give them more control over education decisions. Gary, Bob, Cord, Jack and Paul are dedicated leaders who I am honored to know. I appreciate their support and look forward to working with them moving forward.”
Speaking about the endorsement, Chairman Gary Snellings (R-Hartwood) said, “I know Bill Howell. He has done an outstanding job representing the 28th District.  He is a great leader and will continue doing good for Stafford County. We are standing unified in our effort to make sure Bill is re-elected to the House of Delegates.”
Supervisor Bob Thomas (R-George Washington) added, “Bill is exactly the kind of leader we need in the House of Delegates. As a local elected official, I know how critical it is to have our voice heard in Richmond and Bill has always been willing to listen to the concerns of local leaders. I know he will continue to put Stafford County and our constituents first and I am proud to endorse him for re-election.”
“No one is more qualified to serve our community in the House of Delegates than Bill Howell,” said Supervisor Cord Sterling (R-Rock Hill). “The calm demeanor and steady leadership he has displayed over the years, as well as his proven conservative record, are evident to anyone who knows him. We are eager to support him again this year.”
Supervisor Jack Cavalier noted, “Bill is known for his high character and impeccable integrity, and he has always been willing to help his constituents on any issue, be it large or small. I am excited to join Gary, Bob, Cord and Paul in supporting Bill’s re-election effort.”
“Bill Howell delivers for the people of Stafford,” said Supervisor Paul Milde (R-Aquia). “As Delegate, Bill Howell has consistently delivered the critical resources we need to address transportation and growth, and to keep our local economy thriving. I am proud to join my fellow supervisors in supporting him.”
“I am excited for the Supervisors to join the growing list of citizens from across the 28th District who are supporting our campaign,” Howell added. “The energy and momentum is building. Over 45 people have shared their stories through WeKnowBill.com and thanks to the help of our volunteers, we have already knocked over 10,000 doors. I appreciate the support of these local leaders and look forward to adding more names to our campaign soon.”

Despite my disenchantment with the “organized Stafford County Republican Committee”–originating in the mid-90s with proliferating negativism and unethical behavior–my late husband and I have always supported Bill Howell. His high road in politics, his nurturing leadership of bills with local importance through the House to successful implementation as Speaker of the House cannot be replaced. Therefore, it is critically important that we vote for Bill in this Republican Primary and ultimately re-elect Bill Howell to preserve our best interests, ensuring the political welfare of this District and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Your door knob leaflets say nearly $7 billion was cut from spending without any elaboration. Sorry, but you appear to be making the case that Republicans reason like toddlers and therefore there is no need to provide any support for your spending decisions. Bill, in the future please BRIEFLY itemize the principle initiatives you think should be funded, the amounts, and why. Just as importantly, state what you do not think should be funded, the amounts, and why. Your constituency deserves this information. Any guy on the street can simply break things and shut things down. Sorry, but a true leader would respect his/her constituency and present the bases for important decisions. You are encouraged to make your case(s), else please quit hanging things on my door. Thank you.
